Tinubu, APC Leaders Meet in Aso Villa to Strategise for Party’s Future

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday evening hosted a high-level meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as political alignments begin ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and long-term strategy towards the 2027 general elections.

The closed-door meeting drew key figures including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, APC governors, National Working Committee (NWC) members, and former governors.

Sources within the party said the meeting focused on party unity, resolving internal grievances, and setting a roadmap to strengthen the APC’s hold on power ahead of the next electoral cycle. Discussions also reportedly touched on government performance, policy communication, and internal democracy.

President Tinubu, according to insiders, urged the party leadership to maintain cohesion and ensure the APC remains the dominant political force. He also emphasised the need for collaboration between the executive and legislative arms to deliver on key national priorities.

The caucus meeting came ahead of the NEC meeting scheduled for Thursday, where strategic issues such as appointments, party funding, and future congresses are expected to be discussed.

Observers believe the gathering signals the start of early political calculations within the ruling party, as it seeks to consolidate control and manage internal power blocs with an eye on 2027.

The APC has faced internal challenges in recent months, making the caucus meeting a critical step in repositioning the party for the future.
