NAFDAC Warns Against Indomie Vegetable Noodles Over Safety Concerns

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians to avoid consuming Indomie Vegetable Noodles over safety concerns.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, NAFDAC said it received reports indicating possible contamination and quality issues with certain batches of the product. The agency said it acted promptly after preliminary tests raised red flags.

NAFDAC directed consumers not to buy, sell or consume any Indomie Vegetable Noodles until further notice. It also ordered distributors, retailers and supermarkets to remove the product from their shelves immediately.

The agency said it has already reached out to the manufacturer to provide details on production batches, expiry dates and supply channels. NAFDAC also pledged to release full test results as soon as verification is complete.

“Your health matters. Do not eat or sell this product until we conclude our inspection,” the statement read. The agency advised people who have already purchased the noodles to return them to the place of purchase or dispose of them safely.

NAFDAC urged members of the public to report any adverse reactions after eating the noodles to its nearest office or through its official communication channels.

Market operators in several states confirmed that some stores have begun pulling the noodles from their shelves. Consumers who noticed unusual smell or packaging defects were encouraged to notify authorities.

The agency emphasised its commitment to ensuring safe food for all Nigerians and warned that it will take enforcement action against anyone who defies the recall directive.

NAFDAC said it will update the public with further findings and next steps.
