PETROL: Consumers advice Dangote to partner with more fuel stations

Consumers across the country have called on the Dangote Petroleum Refinery to increase its distribution network by expanding partnerships with more fuel stations. They believe this move will boost petrol availability and help stabilize pump prices.

Since the refinery began fuel distribution, many Nigerians have praised its impact on reducing scarcity. However, complaints have also surfaced about limited access in certain regions. Some motorists say they still struggle to find stations selling Dangote-refined petrol.

A motorist in Lagos, Musa Abdullahi, said, “We need more stations selling Dangote petrol in areas like Ikeja and Agege. People are ready to buy if it’s available.”

In Abuja, Chidinma Okoro, a ride-hailing driver, shared a similar concern. “I’ve heard Dangote petrol is cheaper in some places, but we can’t benefit if we don’t find it around here.”

Dealers and transporters echoed the need for wider distribution. They urged the company to partner with more independent marketers and open new retail outlets in underserved areas.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has also advised marketers to register with the agency to qualify as official distributors of the refinery’s products. This, they said, would help prevent hoarding and sharp practices.

Industry analysts noted that broader distribution would increase competition, possibly lowering fuel costs. They added that it could also pressure other depots and importers to adjust pricing.

Consumers continue to hope that improved access to Dangote petrol will lead to better pricing and fuel security nationwide.
