Anthony Joshua crash: Driver may face prosecution as boxer suffers leg fracture

British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua, reportedly sustained a leg fracture following a car crash in Ogun State, sparking legal concerns for the driver involved. According to sources close to the incident, Joshua was traveling through Sagamu when the accident occurred on December 28, 2025. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where doctors confirmed a minor leg fracture. His condition is said to be stable.

Ogun State authorities have launched an investigation into the crash. Preliminary reports suggest the driver may have lost control due to over-speeding or mechanical failure. Officials stated that the driver could face prosecution depending on the outcome of the investigation. “No one is above the law,” a senior police officer said. “If the driver is found to have acted negligently, we will press charges.”

The Ogun State government has assured the public of a thorough probe. Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, confirmed that Joshua received timely treatment and is responding well. “We’re in touch with his team. He’s stable, and we expect full recovery,” she added.

President Bola Tinubu reportedly spoke to Joshua over the phone, expressing support and wishing him a speedy recovery. Fans across Nigeria and the boxing world have sent goodwill messages, hoping the former world champion bounces back soon.

Meanwhile, legal experts say the incident highlights the need for stricter road safety enforcement, especially during the festive season when traffic violations spike.
