Foundation supports Odogbolu residents with lifesaving medical items, free surgeries

A non-profit organisation, Dideolu Adefulire Foundation, has provided free surgeries and donated essential medical items to residents of Odogbolu Local Government Area in Ogun State.

The foundation carried out the outreach in partnership with the Ogun State Government, targeting underserved communities in need of urgent healthcare.

Over 100 residents received life-saving surgeries, while hundreds more benefited from free consultations, medications, and medical supplies. Items donated included surgical equipment, hospital beds, delivery kits, and protective gear.

The founder, Dideolu Adefulire, said the initiative aimed to reduce the burden of healthcare costs on low-income families. He added that access to quality medical services should not depend on one’s financial status.

“Our goal is to ensure people in rural communities get timely, quality care. We focused on Odogbolu because of its growing needs and limited access to major healthcare facilities,” he said.

The foundation also trained community health workers on basic emergency response and maternal care to strengthen local capacity.

Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, who attended the event, commended the foundation’s efforts. She said the collaboration reflects the state’s vision of improving primary healthcare delivery through public-private partnerships.

Residents expressed gratitude, describing the intervention as timely. Mrs. Morenike Adebayo, a beneficiary who underwent hernia surgery, said she had postponed treatment for years due to lack of funds.

The foundation promised to return for follow-up care and hinted at expanding its outreach to other parts of the state in coming months.
