Nigerians react to Badenoch’s sacking of MP Robert Jenrick

Nigerians have reacted to Kemi Badenoch’s dismissal of Conservative MP Robert Jenrick on Thursday over alleged plans to defect to Reform UK.

Badenoch, the Tory leader, said she had “clear, irrefutable evidence” that Jenrick intended to leave the Conservative Party, prompting her to strip him of the party whip and suspend his membership. “I have sacked Robert Jenrick from the Shadow Cabinet. The British public are tired of political psychodrama, and so am I. They saw too much of it in the last government; they are seeing too much of it in this government,” she said.

The decision sparked a wave of reactions from Nigerians on social media, with some praising and others criticizing the move.

A Facebook user, Destiny Ikechukwu, wrote, “She sacked him when he was at the defection ground without his knowledge. Nice one, Kemi.” Another user, Azi Aware, commented, “While Nigerian politicians defect for a living, we lack ideology and direction.”
