Operatives of Nigeria’s Department of State Services have arrested a man identified as Malami shortly after his release from the Kuje prison, security sources said on Tuesday.
The arrest was carried out at the prison premises, according to officials familiar with the operation, who said Malami was taken into custody for further questioning over matters not immediately disclosed.
Authorities did not provide details on the charges he previously faced or the reasons for his release before the rearrest. The DSS has also not issued an official statement on the development.
Kuje prison, one of Nigeria’s largest custodial facilities, has in recent years been the focus of heightened security attention following high-profile cases and security incidents.
