The University of Lagos has warned that it may revoke about 800 hostel bed spaces that remain unoccupied despite being allocated to students.
The university said in a statement on Tuesday that the vacant spaces violate its accommodation policy, which requires students offered hostel placement to occupy the rooms within a specified period or risk forfeiture.
UNILAG management said the move was aimed at ensuring fair access to limited on-campus housing and discouraging the practice of reserving bed spaces without use.
Affected students were urged to take immediate steps to occupy their rooms or formally withdraw to allow the spaces to be reassigned to others on the waiting list.
The university added that the exercise would help ease accommodation pressure on campus, where demand for hostel spaces continues to outstrip supply.
