Ondo State Deputy Gov. Olayide Adelami has awarded full scholarships to 100 newly admitted students of Government Technical College, Owo, covering their entire three-year training program.
The award was announced during the school’s 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony, according to a statement released Saturday by Johnpaul Akinduro, press secretary to Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the Office of the Deputy Governor.
The statement said the scholarships were disclosed by the college principal, Tayo Ijabiken, who thanked Adelami for what he described as a generous intervention that would ease the financial burden on students and their families.
Ijabiken said the initiative would boost confidence and motivation among the beneficiaries and strengthen technical and vocational education in the state. He also praised Gov. Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to education, particularly skills acquisition for youths and women.
Adelami, represented at the event by former state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Kola Olawoye, said the scholarship scheme aligns with the governor’s vision to revive technical education in Ondo State.
He urged the newly admitted students to take their training seriously, noting that technical education offers a practical route to self-reliance and job creation.
Beyond covering tuition, Adelami also pledged to pay daily feeding stipends for the 100 students throughout their three years of study.
Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor Oluyi Ogbeni reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to repositioning technical education in line with global best practices, saying the policy is anchored on the state’s OUREASE Agenda, which prioritizes opportunity creation, economic growth, social inclusion and security.
