Fresh Cult War Rocks Lagos, Four Feared Killed

At least four people are feared dead following a series of suspected cult-related clashes across Lagos State over the past week, according to reports and videos circulating online.

The incidents were reported between Wednesday and Monday in several areas, including Iyana-Ipaja and Aboru in Alimosho Local Government Area; Badore and Olokonla in Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government Area; Onipanu near Fadeyi; and Satellite Town.

In Badore, a man identified only as Chidera was reportedly killed Friday during a clash involving suspected members of the Eiye confraternity and a rival group. Videos shared on social media and reviewed by Nigerian Mirror also showed several people with serious injuries in Iyana-Ipaja and Aboru.

It was not immediately clear whether the injured individuals were directly involved in cult clashes, but the footage showed multiple people receiving treatment for severe wounds.

Separately, a violent clash was reported in the Onipanu area near Fadeyi, where a man identified simply as Israel was shot dead. A video circulating online allegedly showed the attack, though authorities have not officially confirmed the incident.

In Satellite Town, a man was found dead last Wednesday at the NEPA Junction. While the circumstances surrounding the killing remain unclear, police have confirmed the death as a suspected murder.

Reports of another killing surfaced on Monday morning at Baba Adisa Bus Stop in Ibeju-Lekki. The victim, identified only as Alabama, was found lying motionless at the scene. As of press time, police had not issued an official statement on the Ibeju-Lekki incident.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed only the Satellite Town killing. In a text message on Tuesday, she said police contacted divisional officers in the affected areas, but none confirmed the other reported incidents.

“The case at Satellite Town has been confirmed as a suspected murder,” Adebisi said, adding that investigations were ongoing and the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti.

Lagos police have continued to battle violent crimes linked to cult rivalries across the state. Last year, at least 10 people were killed within a 10-day period in incidents related to cult violence.
