Nigerian Mum Raises Alarm Over ‘Disturbing’ School Textbook, Alleges Threats After Speaking Out

Nigerian mother and content creator Maryqueen has raised alarm on social media, claiming she is being threatened after speaking out against a school textbook she described as inappropriate for children.

Maryqueen said she objected to a book titled English Language Foundation, which her child uses in school, alleging that it contains disturbing themes of violence and unsuitable material for young learners. She called on school authorities to withdraw the book and urged parents to monitor what their children read.

In a follow-up claim shared online, she alleged that individuals she described as being connected to the book’s publishers or handlers demanded she delete her earlier post and threatened her with arrest and punishment if she refused.

She further alleged that people close to her had been picked up and that she was now being targeted. Maryqueen said she had received what she believes to be an official invitation from authorities, which she fears may lead to her arrest.

The content creator, who said she is a mother of two young children, including a five-year-old and a baby boy, expressed fear for her safety and said she lacked resources to secure legal representation.

She also alleged repeated intimidation involving police officers and appealed to the public for support, saying she felt she had nowhere to turn.

Authorities have not publicly commented on the allegations, and the claims have not been independently verified.
