Bandit Informant Arrested as Police Tighten Grip in Katsina

The police command in Katsina State has arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of serving as an informant to bandits and recovered alleged criminal charms.

Police spokesperson Abubakar Sadie-Aliyu said in a statement Thursday that the suspect, identified as Abdullahi Abdullahi, was apprehended following credible intelligence from the Musawa Divisional Police Headquarters.

Sadiq-Aliyu said the suspect confessed during interrogation to collaborating with his brother in criminal activities, including issuing threats to victims.

“We called a victim and demanded the sum of N10 million or we would kill him,” the suspect reportedly said.

The spokesperson added that the suspect also admitted involvement in similar crimes in the past.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Ali-Fage, has ordered intensified efforts to track and arrest other suspects linked to the case.

Ali-Fage reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling banditry, warning that anyone aiding criminal activity would be “decisively dealt with.” He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the nearest police station.
