Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company says two of its staff members abducted in Ogun State remain in captivity six days after they were kidnapped while on official duty.
The company confirmed the incident in a statement Monday in Ibadan, expressing concern over the safety of the employees and saying it was working with security agencies to secure their release.
The workers were abducted on April 29, 2026, in what the company described as a distressing situation affecting both the victims and their families.
“We are deeply concerned about this situation, and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time,” the statement said.
The company said it is collaborating with relevant security agencies and maintaining contact with the victims’ families but declined to provide further details, citing the sensitive nature of the case.
“Given the ongoing efforts to resolve the situation, we request understanding and restraint as we prioritize the safety and well-being of those involved,” it added.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has denied knowledge of the incident. Spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi said no abduction had been reported in the state.
“No such incident happened in Ogun State,” Babaseyi said. “A lot of reporters have called on that issue, but it’s not in Ogun State.”
He said residents should check neighbouring states, adding that the command had received multiple enquiries but had no record of the case.
