President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Lagos on Friday evening after a series of international engagements in France, Kenya and Rwanda focused on economic reforms, investment opportunities and Africa’s development agenda.
Tinubu arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja at about 7:12 p.m. He was received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat; the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa; and other government officials.
During his visit to France, Tinubu met with international investors and business leaders, defending his administration’s economic reform policies and emphasizing transparency, fiscal discipline and long-term economic stability in Nigeria.
The President also attended the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, co-hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto. At the summit, Tinubu called for reforms to the global financial system and stronger economic collaboration among African nations to unlock the continent’s economic potential.
He highlighted the role of the blue economy in Africa’s future growth and pledged Nigeria’s support for Gulf of Guinea nations through the sharing of maritime intelligence infrastructure to enhance regional security and economic cooperation.
While in Nairobi, Tinubu held bilateral talks with Madagascar President Michael Randrianirina on areas of mutual interest and continental partnerships.
The President later traveled to Kigali, Rwanda, where he participated in the Africa CEO Forum alongside African leaders, global investors and multinational executives.
Discussions at the forum focused on accelerating Africa’s economic transformation through regional integration, large-scale investments and cross-border partnerships.
Tinubu also met with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and held separate meetings with international business groups and financial institutions, including the International Finance Corporation, APM Terminals and the Winme Group.
Officials said the meetings yielded positive outcomes expected to strengthen investment ties and support Nigeria’s economic agenda.
During the engagements, Tinubu participated in strategic panel sessions, where he outlined his administration’s reform programs and economic direction.
Following his return to Lagos, the President is expected to participate in the All Progressives Congress primary elections scheduled to begin Saturday.
Ahead of the exercise, Tinubu urged party members and aspirants to maintain peace and demonstrate sportsmanship in the interest of the party and the country.
