Inner Wheel District 911 commissions 6 projects, for service to humanity at College of Nursing Sciences, LUTH

The Inner Wheel District 911, Nigeria, has renovated and commissioned six (6) completed projects for the College of Nursing, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) to aid operations of the school.

The projects were renovated by the District in collaboration with the LUTH management and the LUTH College of Nursing Old Students.

Speaking at the Inauguration Ceremony in Lagos, the District Chairman, IWM Omolola Fakeye said the projects were executed to support the academic journey of the students of LUTH’s College of Nursing Sciences.

The event also featured the 2025/2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Club .

Fakeye, also the Director of Administration, LUTH, explained that the school had increased its intake of students, stressing that the projects would supplement efforts to cater for about 500 students currently on admission in the school.

She listed the projects to include the first Inner Wheel Garden donated by Mrs Iyabo Atta and commissioned by Mrs Stella Marie Awani, Past Board Member; the eight-face Laundrette commissioned by Past District Chairman, Joke Kukoyi.

Others she mentioned were the roof renovation, which was donated by madotsons Ltd in UK; the eight-face 10,000 Liters water reservoir and the complete the renovation of student’s hostel toilets, commissioned by Prof. Wasiu Adeyemo FAS, the Chief Medical Director, LUTH.

Fakaye, therefore, admonished the management of the school to ensure judicious use of the provisions, through adequate supervion and monitoring of the student’s usage.

“Cumulatively, six projects were rolled out in one.

“Managing about 500 students is not easy. So, the idea is to see how we can supplement efforts toward management of the students.

“For the Farm Club, the idea is to aid the student’s access to food and thereby reduce hunger, while encouraging healthy eating habits.

“At a point when it was looking as if we were not going to finish the project, the LUTH Management had to come in to ensure that the project was finished beautifully.

“So, it was a collaboration of my humble self, the old students and the LUTH management to ensure that all the six projects rolled into one were completed and successfully commissioned today.

“We just have to contribute and give whatever we can to supplement, to ensure that these projects come to life and that we are able to give back for the future generation, we look forward to some of the students being members of Inner Wheel in the future, having seen what we have done,” Fakeye said.

Speaking on the AGM, Fakeye highlighted resilience, humility and tolerance as the sustaining factors behind the successful completion of Inner Wheel 2025 – 2026 year.

She, therefore, urged continuous and consistent support of members to their Executives to enhance growth and development of Inner Wheel.

Similarly, Mrs Kafilat Afodun, a Past Inner Wheel District Chairman and Incoming Deputy National Representative of Nigeria, described the year and AGM as a “successful one”.

Afodun urged Inner Wheel management at all levels to continue in thier charity and humanitarian services, helping the less privileged and vulnerable groups in the society.

The meeting ended with words of encouragement and facilitations from Inner Wheel in Nigeria.
