Vice President Kashim Shettima has officially launched the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s N100 billion education initiative aimed at improving access to quality education for underprivileged children across Nigeria.
The flag-off ceremony took place in Maiduguri, Borno State, and marked the beginning of a major nationwide intervention to support basic education, especially in conflict-affected and underserved communities.
Speaking at the event, Shettima commended the Aliko Dangote Foundation for its commitment to social development and for investing massively in the future of Nigerian children. He noted that the N100 billion fund would go a long way in rebuilding education infrastructure, providing learning materials, and supporting teacher development.
“This is not just a donation; it is a bold investment in the future of our country,” the Vice President said. “Education remains the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty and build a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.”
Chairman of the Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, reaffirmed the foundation’s resolve to improve lives through access to education, nutrition, and healthcare. He explained that the initiative will be implemented in phases, beginning with regions most affected by poverty and insecurity.
According to the foundation, thousands of schools are expected to benefit from the scheme, with a focus on renovating classrooms, providing scholarships, and enhancing school feeding programs.
Government officials, traditional leaders, and education stakeholders attended the launch and expressed optimism that the initiative will significantly uplift Nigeria’s struggling education sector.
