Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has revealed that she has turned down multiple invitations to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Despite persistent efforts by individuals linked to the Presidency and some fellow lawmakers, she reaffirmed her loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during an appearance on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, Akpoti-Uduaghan shared that she has been approached “many times” by political figures urging her to defect. “People from the Presidency and even my colleagues have tried to convince me,” she said. “But I value my space and peace.”
The senator, who is serving her first term, explained that she had once briefly been in the APC early in her political career but decided to return to the PDP, where she feels aligned with the party’s vision. She stressed that she has no intention of rejoining the ruling party.
Addressing rumours about her future plans, Akpoti-Uduaghan acknowledged that there have been talks about running for a second term in 2027. However, she made it clear that no decision has been made regarding her next political move.
Her strong stance highlights her commitment to the PDP and resistance to political pressure.
She emphasized that her focus remains on delivering quality representation, attracting development projects to Kogi Central, and supporting legislation that uplifts women, youth, and the marginalized. Natasha also called on her supporters to remain steadfast and ignore political distractions.
PDP leaders in the state have welcomed her public reaffirmation of loyalty, describing her as a valuable asset to the party and a symbol of integrity in Kogi politics. They pledged continued support for her political journey and applauded her for standing firm in the face of political pressure.
