Lobi Stars Football Club has announced the suspension of its Technical Adviser, Eugene Agagbe, due to what the management described as unsatisfactory team performance in recent matches.
In a statement released by the club on Monday, the management said the decision was taken after a thorough review of the team’s poor run of form in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The club noted that expectations for the 2024/2025 season were high, but recent results have fallen short, prompting swift action.
The club’s Vice Chairman, Dominic Iorfa, said the suspension aims to reposition the team for improved results. He noted that while Agagbe made valuable contributions during his time with the club, performance concerns and fan dissatisfaction could no longer be ignored.
“The management has decided to suspend Coach Agagbe with immediate effect pending further review. We are focused on getting Lobi Stars back to winning ways,” Iorfa stated.
An interim coaching team has been appointed to take charge of the squad while the search for a replacement begins. The club called for calm among supporters and assured them of its commitment to building a competitive team.
Lobi Stars, once among the top contenders in the NPFL, have struggled in recent fixtures, losing key matches that saw them drop down the league table. Fans have voiced frustration over tactics and player selection, further putting pressure on the club’s leadership.
The suspension marks a turning point for the team, as the management looks to revive Lobi Stars’ campaign.
