President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday held a crucial meeting with Nigeria’s service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja. The meeting, which took place behind closed doors, was aimed at reviewing the country’s current security situation and evaluating ongoing military operations nationwide.
Among those in attendance were the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar. Also present were the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and other top security officials.
Sources at the Villa confirmed that President Tinubu called the meeting to receive firsthand briefings and to discuss strategies to combat rising security concerns, including banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping, particularly in the northern regions.
Although details of the discussions were not disclosed to the public, the Presidency emphasized that security remains a top priority for the Tinubu administration. The President reportedly urged the service chiefs to intensify their efforts in restoring peace and order across all troubled zones.
This is not the first time Tinubu has summoned security heads since assuming office in May 2023. He has consistently maintained that a secure and stable Nigeria is key to achieving economic recovery and national development.
Following the meeting, no official statement was released, but insiders hinted that new security directives and operational shifts may soon be announced in line with the President’s renewed focus on tackling insecurity.
