Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu Pledge Continued Support for Nigeria Armed Forces

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu have reiterated their commitment to supporting Nigeria’s armed forces, praising the military’s courage and patriotism in safeguarding the nation. Tinubu highlighted the sacrifices of officers and soldiers who place national duty above personal comfort, noting that their efforts in defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and unity are deeply appreciated and part of the country’s enduring heritage.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu described the gathering of elder statesmen and former service chiefs at the event as a testament to the professionalism and fighting spirit of the Nigerian Armed Forces. He commended their unwavering dedication in the face of persistent security challenges across the country.

Governor Sanwo‑Olu, while joining in the praise for the military, reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s support for service personnel and veterans alike, urging citizens to continue honouring the sacrifices made by the nation’s defenders. His remarks underscored the importance of recognising the armed forces’ role in national development and security.

The renewed expressions of support come amid broader efforts by the federal government to modernise the military and enhance its operational capabilities to confront threats such as terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities. Authorities continue to emphasise the need for strong, disciplined security forces as a foundation for peace and progress in Nigeria.

Both leaders appealed to Nigerians to stand united in backing the military’s constitutional mandate, reiterating that continued welfare support and equipment upgrades remain central to ensuring the armed forces can effectively protect the nation.
