Rivers is no longer a Safe Haven for Kidnappers- Fubara

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has declared that kidnapping and other criminal activities are becoming increasingly difficult for criminals to carry out in the state due to intensified government efforts in tackling insecurity.

Speaking during a security stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt, Fubara credited the improved situation to the government’s strong collaboration with security agencies and community leaders. He emphasized that his administration is committed to making Rivers a safe place for residents and investors.

“Kidnapping is no longer as easy as it used to be in Rivers. Our security forces have been working round the clock, and the results are evident. Criminals now know that there is no hiding place for them in this state,” he said.

Fubara noted that several criminal hideouts have been dismantled, while surveillance operations have been boosted across key areas in the state. He called on residents to remain vigilant and continue to support the government with useful information to aid security operations.

The governor also acknowledged the support of traditional rulers and local vigilante groups, stating that their efforts have contributed to restoring peace in previously troubled communities.

“Our goal is to ensure that the people of Rivers can go about their daily lives without fear,” Fubara added.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to long-term security planning, including investing in technology, logistics, and welfare of security personnel.

Security stakeholders present at the meeting expressed satisfaction with the current progress and urged the government to sustain the momentum to completely eliminate the threat of kidnapping and other forms of crime in the state.
