Abiodun Pledges Peaceful Power Transition in Ogun

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has pledged to end the cycle of bitterness and rivalry that often surrounds leadership succession in the state. He made the promise at a stakeholders’ meeting in Iperu-Remo while reflecting on past political transitions in Ogun.

Abiodun said previous transitions were marked by division and unhealthy power struggles. He stressed the need for unity and collective interest over personal ambition. According to him, no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of distrust and hostility.

“We must break the cycle of acrimony,” the governor said. “Politics should not be a do-or-die affair. We need to focus on progress, not personal battles.”

He noted that his administration would ensure peaceful succession by promoting fairness, inclusion, and dialogue. He called on political leaders and traditional rulers to help foster unity and maturity in the state’s political space.

Abiodun added that leadership should be about service, not personal gain. He warned that Ogun cannot afford the kind of instability that hampers development.

“We’ll build a system where leadership transitions are smooth and guided by merit and the people’s will,” he said.
