The Bauchi State Police Command has deployed additional security personnel and enhanced weaponry to troubled communities to curb banditry and maintain law and order.
Police Public Relations Officer Nafiu Habib said Thursday that the deployment follows a recent resurgence of insecurity in Gwana, Digare and Kafin Duguri, all in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
Habib said the operation involved joint efforts by the police, the military, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other security agencies, with support from the Bauchi State government.
“In recent days, there has been a resurgence of security concerns in Gwana, Digare, and Kafin Duguri,” he said. “Following a thorough assessment, the Command, in collaboration with sister agencies, has initiated a massive deployment of joint security personnel to suppress the activities of criminal elements.”
He noted that the border communities have long faced challenges from criminals infiltrating from neighboring states.
Habib reassured residents of Mansur town, who reportedly fled their homes over fears of attacks, that the area remains secure.
“Despite recent incidents in neighboring Gwana District, Mansur town remains unaffected, and there is no cause for alarm,” he said. “Massive deployments of security personnel and enhanced weaponry have been put in place to prevent any breakdown of law and order. Operatives are working tirelessly to ensure peace and stability.”
The command said operations in Alkaleri LGA would continue, leaving no safe haven for bandits. Habib added that Commissioner of Police Sani Omolori Aliyu stressed the importance of community cooperation in tackling insecurity. Residents were urged to report suspicious movements, strangers or objects and assured that all information would be treated confidentially.
He encouraged citizens to take advantage of the improved security measures and carry on with daily activities without fear.
