Mr. Bola Oyebamiji has emerged as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 Osun State governorship election following a keenly contested primary held across the state.
The primary election, organized by the APC National Working Committee (NWC), was conducted under tight security and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and party stakeholders. The process was reported to be peaceful across most of the designated voting centres.
Announcing the results in Osogbo, the Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Committee, Senator Isa Yuguda, declared Oyebamiji as the winner after polling the highest number of valid votes cast by accredited party delegates. According to Yuguda, Oyebamiji’s victory reflects the will of the majority of APC members in Osun.
Oyebamiji, a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, expressed gratitude to party members and leaders for their support, promising to unite the party and build on its past achievements. He pledged to run an issue-based campaign focused on economic development, job creation, education, and infrastructure renewal.
In his acceptance speech, Oyebamiji also extended an olive branch to fellow aspirants, calling for unity within the party as they prepare to face the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the general election.
The APC leadership in Osun expressed confidence that Oyebamiji’s candidacy would energize the party’s base and offer a strong alternative to the current administration, positioning the APC for a possible return to power in 2026.
