El-Rufai Denies 2027 Presidential Ambition, Labels Report Fake

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed reports linking him to comments about the 2027 presidential race, describing them as completely false and misleading. He made the clarification via his verified social media handle, stating that he has not made any public statement regarding future political ambitions or the 2027 elections.

The former governor emphasized that a recent post circulating online, which claimed he expressed interest in contesting or made political projections for 2027, is a fabrication. El-Rufai cautioned the public to disregard such information and warned media platforms and individuals against sharing unverified content.

“This is fake news. I have not spoken to anyone about 2027 or made any statement relating to future elections. Please ignore the falsehood being circulated,” he said in a brief statement.

He urged Nigerians to focus on supporting current leadership efforts aimed at addressing the country’s challenges, rather than engaging in early political speculation. El-Rufai reiterated that his current focus is on contributing to national development in other capacities, not on seeking political office.

The false claims had sparked online discussions, especially among political watchers, with some interpreting it as a sign of potential political re-entry by the former minister and two-term governor. However, his latest statement appears to shut down any such speculation for now.

El-Rufai advised media professionals and citizens to uphold truth and accuracy in public discourse, especially on sensitive issues related to governance and national stability.
