Ezekwesili Accuses Tinubu’s Govt of Ties with Terrorists

Former Minister of Education, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of fraternising with terrorists instead of confronting insecurity with seriousness. In a statement shared on social media, Ezekwesili criticised the government’s handling of recent security issues, especially the silence over reported foreign airstrikes on terrorist camps in northern Nigeria.

Ezekwesili questioned the government’s failure to provide updates on attacks that allegedly left many dead. She noted that foreign governments, like the United States, had confirmed their involvement in such operations, yet Nigeria’s leadership remained quiet.

She described the government’s posture as weak and compromising. “A serious government wouldn’t stay mute while another country announces deadly operations on its soil,” she said. “Their silence fuels suspicion of complicity or gross negligence.”

Ezekwesili also raised concerns over negotiations and ransom payments involving terrorist groups, claiming that such actions signal a dangerous trend. She argued that by tolerating or engaging with these groups, the government empowers them.

“Citizens are dying, and communities are under siege. Yet, the government appears more concerned with protecting its image than protecting lives,” she added.

She urged Nigerians to demand transparency, stronger action against terrorism, and accountability from their leaders. According to her, the failure to confront terror head-on has eroded public confidence and emboldened violent groups.

Her comments have sparked debate online, with many users expressing frustration over worsening insecurity and the perceived lack of political will to end it.
