Gunmen Storm Set, Ask for Funke Akindele – Bimbo Thomas Recounts Ordeal

Nollywood actress Bimbo Thomas has shared a terrifying encounter with armed men who stormed a movie set looking for popular actress Funke Akindele.

Speaking in a recent interview, Bimbo said the incident happened years ago during a film shoot in the Surulere area of Lagos. According to her, the atmosphere was calm until a group of men carrying guns arrived unexpectedly.

“They came with guns and were asking, ‘Where is Funke Akindele?’” Bimbo recounted. “It was scary. Everyone went into hiding. We didn’t know what they wanted or why they were looking for her.”

She said Funke was not on set at the time, which may have prevented a worse outcome. “Luckily, she wasn’t around that day. We were all shaken. It was a moment I’ll never forget,” she added.

Bimbo said the attackers left after a tense wait, still demanding to know Funke’s whereabouts. She didn’t confirm if the matter was reported to the police, but she emphasized that safety on film locations remains a big concern in the industry.

The actress called for better security on movie sets and urged producers to prioritize the safety of cast and crew.

Bimbo Thomas, known for her roles in Yoruba movies, has remained a close colleague of Funke Akindele over the years. The incident has since sparked fresh conversations about the risks actors face while working in unpredictable environments.
