‘I’m Dying, Save Me, Please Send Money’ — Outrage as Abuja Lawyer Killed After N3m Ransom Demand

The brutal killing of Abuja-based lawyer Princess Nwamaka Mediatrix Chigbo by suspected kidnappers has sparked national outrage and renewed concerns over rising insecurity in Nigeria’s capital.

Chigbo, a mother of four, was abducted on January 5 in the Federal Capital Territory. During her captivity, she managed to send a desperate voice message to her family, pleading, “I’m dying, save me, please send money.” The kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₦3 million.

Despite efforts by her family to meet the ransom demand, Chigbo was killed. Her body was later discovered along the Kubwa expressway. The assailants remain unidentified, and investigations are ongoing. [1]

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) condemned the murder, calling it a tragic loss to the legal community and urging authorities to intensify efforts to curb the spate of kidnappings in the region.

Legal practitioners and civil society groups have also expressed alarm over the incident, highlighting the deteriorating security situation in Abuja and calling for comprehensive reforms to protect citizens.

As the nation mourns Chigbo’s death, her family and colleagues continue to demand justice and enhanced security measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
