The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to begin a thorough investigation into the murder allegations against Pastor Chris Okafor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry.
This follows a petition from the family of late Mrs. Patience Ndulue, who accused the clergyman of being involved in her mysterious death. The family claimed that Mrs. Ndulue died after a visit to the pastor’s church for prayers, during which she was allegedly forced to undergo spiritual cleansing.
According to the family, she was in good health before the visit and began feeling unwell shortly after the prayer session. She later died under unclear circumstances. They alleged that Pastor Okafor and his team refused to provide clear answers or medical support after her condition worsened.
Following the petition, CP Fayoade ordered the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the SCID to handle the case without bias. The police confirmed they had invited Pastor Okafor for questioning and would ensure the investigation is fair and thorough.
The church has not issued an official response, but sources close to Pastor Okafor dismissed the allegations as baseless and an attack on his reputation.
The police urged the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed, assuring that justice would be served based on evidence gathered.
The case continues to draw attention both from human rights groups and members of the public demanding accountability.
