Lai Mohammed , a former minister of information and culture, has denied a viral social media report alleging that he raised concerns about a so-called “Hausa insurgency” and its sponsors.
In a statement issued Saturday, Mohammed described the report as fabricated and misleading.
The report claimed he made the remarks during an interview with Splash Fm 105.5.
“I categorically state that I have never made any comment regarding a ‘Hausa insurgency’ on any platform whatsoever,” he said.
Mohammed urged Nigerians to disregard the report, warning that the spread of false information could create confusion and heighten tensions.
He described the publication as the work of “agents of fake news and deliberate distortion,” and stressed the need to curb misinformation.
The former minister also reaffirmed his commitment to responsible public discourse and advised the public to verify information before sharing it on social media.
