The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has launched a new pre-enrolment portal to streamline and speed up the National Identification Number (NIN) registration process across Nigeria.
Announcing the development in a statement, the Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, said the portal will allow Nigerians to start their NIN registration online before visiting a centre to complete the process. He explained that the digital solution aims to reduce the crowd at enrolment centres and enhance efficiency in data collection.
“With this innovation, applicants can fill in their personal details online, print out a summary sheet with a 2D barcode, and then take it to the nearest NIMC centre for biometric capturing,” Adegoke said.
He added that the pre-enrolment system was developed as part of NIMC’s commitment to adopting digital tools to improve service delivery. He urged Nigerians to take advantage of the platform to ease their registration experience and support the commission’s goal of enrolling more citizens faster.
The statement also noted that the portal complies with global data protection and privacy standards, ensuring the safety of users’ information.
Adegoke further said the new portal aligns with the Federal Government’s digital economy drive, which seeks to modernise public services and make them more accessible to Nigerians.
He encouraged citizens who are yet to obtain their NIN to begin the process via the portal and complete their registration at any NIMC centre or approved enrolment partner nationwide.
