Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, operating under the special mandate of Operation Wutan Daji, have killed two suspected terrorists and dismantled multiple criminal hideouts during clearance operations in Wase Local Council, the military said.
The mission, carried out April 4 in partnership with local vigilantes, targeted known insurgent corridors in Babangida, Adua and Bokayi villages in the Dutsen Zaki forest.
While patrolling the Babangida–Adua road, troops engaged armed suspects in a firefight. Two suspects were killed, and others retreated into the forest with gunshot wounds. A search of the area recovered weapons and ammunition, including a locally fabricated firearm, 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a cutlass, Capt. Chinonso Oteh, the military’s media officer, said.
In a separate operation April 5 in Namu District, Qua’an Pan Local Council, troops intercepted four suspected terrorists after receiving credible intelligence. During a follow-up operation to locate the suspects’ hideout, troops came under heavy fire, and three of the four suspects attempted to escape and were killed, Oteh said.
Later the same morning, troops in Shendam Local Council, working with local residents, apprehended a suspected kidnapper in Gidan Mangoro village. The suspect is allegedly linked to a kidnapping on April 3. All suspects are in custody for investigation and legal action.
“These operations underscore the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian military and its local partners to restoring peace and security in Plateau State,” Oteh said. “Citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security post as clearance efforts continue.”
