Obi Confirms 2027 Bid, Calls for Unity, National Renewal

Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has confirmed he will run again in 2027. Speaking at a political dialogue in Abuja, Obi urged Nigerians to unite and focus on rebuilding the country.

He stressed that Nigeria needs a shift from politics of division and personal interest to one rooted in accountability and national progress. Obi said his renewed bid isn’t about ambition but a desire to rescue Nigeria from deepening hardship, insecurity, and corruption.

“2027 isn’t just another election; it’s a turning point. We must work together, beyond party lines, to restore hope,” he said. He noted that his campaign would focus on good governance, job creation, and a strong economy driven by production rather than consumption.

Obi also called on the youth to stay engaged and demand transparency from leaders. He said the country’s challenges, including poverty and poor infrastructure, can only be solved through committed leadership and collective action.

Reacting to his announcement, Labour Party officials expressed full support, saying Obi remains the party’s best hope. Civil society groups and supporters praised his consistency, noting his credibility and clean record.

Political analysts believe Obi’s early declaration will energize his base and pressure other contenders to define their agenda. As campaigns slowly build ahead of 2027, Obi’s message of unity and national renewal may set the tone for what’s expected to be a competitive race.
