The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the alleged fraudulent sale and illegal transfer of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at more than N71 million.
Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said in a statement Sunday that the suspects — Adeola Kolawole, 56; Gani Bello, 73; Oladoja Akeem, 56; Wasiu Adigun, 55; Azeez Yusuf, 49; and Ojo Mudasiru, 40 — were arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, following an intelligence-led investigation by operatives of the Fagun Division.
Jimoh said the case was reported May 22, 2026, by a resident of Ayegunle Street, Ondo, identified as Paul Aderemi, who said he purchased a low-loader truck, a tipper truck and a small truck in May 2025 and entrusted them to the principal suspect, Kolawole, under an agreement.
He said the complainant later discovered May 13, 2026, that the vehicles had allegedly been sold without his authorization.
“The complainant, however, discovered on 13th May, 2026, that the vehicles had allegedly been sold without his authorization,” Jimoh said.
Jimoh said detectives launched an investigation after the report and later arrested the principal suspect, who allegedly confessed to selling the vehicles to another suspect in Ibadan.
“Acting on credible intelligence, the principal suspect, Adeola Kolawole, was arrested and subsequently made useful statements during interrogation, allegedly admitting to selling the vehicles to one Alhaji Gani Bello in Ibadan,” he said.
He added that the confession led investigators to other suspects allegedly involved in the transaction.
The police command said efforts were ongoing to recover the three vehicles and determine the full extent of the alleged conspiracy.
It said all six suspects had made confessional statements and would be charged in court after investigations are completed.
Ondo State Commissioner of Police Felix Ohagwu commended the officers for what he described as professionalism and effective intelligence-led policing, while reaffirming the command’s commitment to tackling crime.
He also urged residents to provide credible information to assist law enforcement in combating criminal activity in the state.
