Fatai Buhari, who represents Oyo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, said Friday he has provided empowerment items to more than 2,500 constituents in southwestern Nigeria.
The senator, a member of the All Progressives Congress distributed items including vehicles, motorcycles, sewing machines, freezers, generators and grinding machines during an event at Soun Stadium in Ogbomoso.
Buhari said the initiative was part of ongoing programs aimed at improving livelihoods in his district and demonstrated how public office can be used to support communities.
“Over 2,500 constituents across my senatorial district are benefiting from our empowerment program,” he said, adding that such efforts were designed to promote economic growth and self-reliance.
He also praised Bola Tinubu for what he described as reforms under the administration’s economic agenda, saying they are helping to strengthen institutions and create opportunities for citizens.
Buhari thanked his constituents for their continued support, saying their mandate motivates his work in office.
Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers at the event, Sefiu Oyebola commended the initiative and urged beneficiaries to use the items to improve their economic conditions.
Some beneficiaries described the program as impactful, saying it would help support small businesses and household income.
Empowerment initiatives, which often involve distributing tools, equipment and financial support, are commonly used by public officials in Nigeria as part of efforts to reduce unemployment and support local economies.
