Commuters in the Lekki area of Lagos experienced major delays Monday after a multiple-vehicle crash on Admiralty Way left one car in flames and caused heavy traffic.
The accident occurred inward Admiralty Roundabout near Road 14 and involved three vehicles, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
The agency said the impact of the crash triggered a fire in one of the vehicles, leading to a traffic backlog along the busy route.
In a post on its official X account Monday, the traffic authority said: “There’s a report of a multiple road crash on Admiralty Way inward Admiralty Roundabout very close to Road 14 involving three vehicles, with one of the vehicles reportedly in flames.”
It added that traffic in the area was severely affected and that motorists were being diverted through Road 14 to connect to Durosimi Etti Road.
Emergency responders later arrived at the scene to put out the fire, while traffic officers worked to manage congestion.
“Presently, firefighters are on ground to quench the fire. Traffic counterflow has been adopted for motorists to connect back at Admiralty Roundabout. Officers are still on ground doing the needful,” the agency said.
