Sallah Alert: Police, NSCDC Roll Out Tight Security in Bauchi

The Nigeria Police Force in Bauchi State has assured residents of a peaceful Eid-el -fitr celebration as it intensifies security measures across the state.

Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu gave the assurance in a statement issued Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib.

Habib said area commanders, divisional police officers and tactical commanders have been directed to intensify patrols, intelligence-led operations and visible policing before, during and after the Sallah festivities.

He said the strategy would focus on preventing crimes such as sara-suka violence, phone snatching, pickpocketing and traffic offenses.

“Parents and guardians should monitor their wards to curb reckless behavior,” Habib said.

He urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, and to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s control number.

Habib added that police operatives have been deployed across the state and will collaborate with other security agencies, community leaders and relevant stakeholders to maintain peace.

Similarly, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps said it has deployed 1,100 personnel to safeguard lives and property during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

In a statement, NSCDC spokesperson Saminu Yusuf said State Commandant Oloyede Nelson approved the deployment in line with the federal government’s declaration of the holiday.

Yusuf said the personnel include uniformed officers for overt operations and plainclothes operatives for covert assignments, drawn from various departments, units and divisions across the state.

He added that the corps will prioritize the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure during the festive period.

Nelson congratulated Muslim faithful and urged residents to celebrate peacefully while remaining security conscious.

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and is observed with prayers, meals, charity and visits to family and friends. The festival falls on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic calendar and is declared after the sighting of the new moon.
