Teen Recounts Ordeal After Alleged Trafficking From Lagos to Ghana

A 16-year-old girl has recounted how she was allegedly trafficked from Lagos to Ghana after being lured with promises of overseas employment, according to investigators.

The teenager, whose identity is being withheld because she is a minor, said she was recruited by a neighbor, identified as Tosin Moses, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. She said her father was unaware of the travel arrangements and that she believed she was being taken abroad for legitimate work.

According to her account, she was moved through several locations, including Adamo in Ikorodu and parts of Ogun State, before being transported to Ghana in early 2026.

The victim said she was subsequently subjected to exploitation before escaping and returning to Nigeria in May 2026.

Investigators allege that the suspect used a residence in Ikorodu as a transit point for recruiting and moving vulnerable girls out of the country under false promises of employment and better opportunities.

Police intervention in the case led to the discovery of other potential victims, including a 12-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman, both believed to be linked to the same trafficking network.

The Lagos State Police Gender Unit said it is investigating the case and working to identify and arrest all individuals connected to the alleged trafficking operation.

Authorities said efforts are ongoing to dismantle the network and provide support for victims affected by the scheme.
