President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday said Nigeria’s period of difficult economic reforms is over, declaring that the sacrifices made by citizens over the past three years have begun to yield results.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, Tinubu said the reforms have stabilised the economy and improved the country’s appeal to investors.
He said Nigeria is now positioned as a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth.
“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy,” Tinubu said. “The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here.”
The president acknowledged that insecurity persists in parts of the country despite what he described as gains by security agencies, including a recent joint operation involving Nigeria and the United States that led to the killing of an Islamic State-linked leader in the Lake Chad region.
He said terrorists and bandits continue to attack communities but insisted they would be defeated.
“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” he said.
Tinubu urged Muslims to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for peace, national unity and leadership, while encouraging acts of charity for the less privileged.
He also called on religious and community leaders to support efforts to promote peace and discourage criminal behaviour.
The president said the festival, which marks sacrifice and obedience in Islamic tradition, should inspire selflessness, unity and compassion among Nigerians.
He said his administration remains committed to investing in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development to strengthen the economy and deliver national progress.
