President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians of a stronger economic outlook in 2026, pledging to deliver policies that will drive growth and reduce hardship. In a New Year message, he acknowledged the difficulties Nigerians faced in 2025 but expressed optimism that ongoing reforms would soon yield visible results.
Tinubu said his administration had laid the foundation for a resilient economy by removing fuel subsidies, unifying exchange rates, and improving tax systems. He admitted the steps were tough but insisted they were necessary for long-term stability. “We chose reforms not for ease, but for survival and future prosperity,” he said.
He promised to accelerate investments in infrastructure, agriculture, and energy in 2026. According to him, these sectors will generate jobs, attract investors, and ease the cost of living. The President also pledged to support small businesses and ensure food security.
On security, Tinubu assured citizens that the government would continue to tackle threats and protect lives. He said the military and other security agencies were better equipped and motivated to defeat banditry, terrorism, and other crimes.
He also called for unity and cooperation, urging Nigerians to remain patient and hopeful. “The path to greatness is not smooth, but together, we will reach our goal,” he stated.
Economic analysts believe the success of Tinubu’s plan depends on consistent implementation and transparency. While many remain cautious, others hope 2026 will bring relief after a year of high inflation, job losses, and currency challenges.
