President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to pray for bandits and terrorists to renounce violence, expressing hope that those involved in criminal activities would reconsider and abandon what he described as their “evil ways.”
In his Eid-el-Kabir message released Tuesday, Tinubu said the Islamic festival symbolises faith, sacrifice, obedience and national unity, urging Nigerians to embrace compassion, tolerance and selflessness in efforts to rebuild the country.
The president acknowledged the persistent security challenges facing parts of Nigeria, noting that despite continued military and intelligence operations — including recent offensives against high-profile terrorist elements — some communities still face attacks.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to combating terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities, stressing that affected communities have not been abandoned.
According to him, while security agencies will sustain military operations against violent groups, lasting peace also requires moral reflection and genuine repentance from those engaged in violence.
He said national healing and stability would be strengthened if individuals involved in criminal activities choose to lay down their arms and embrace peace.
Tinubu also highlighted his administration’s economic reforms, saying Nigeria is gradually experiencing signs of economic recovery, improved investor confidence and renewed optimism.
He concluded by wishing Muslims in Nigeria and across the world a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
