Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has submitted his nomination form to the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, disclosed this in a statement posted on Facebook on Friday.
According to the statement, Yusuf was accompanied on Thursday by former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Senator Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives and other dignitaries from Kano State.
Speaking with journalists shortly after submitting the form at Treasure Suites, Yusuf described his bid for a second term as a renewed commitment to serving the people of Kano State.
He said his administration would expand urban renewal projects across the state, with greater focus on road construction, drainage expansion and market modernisation.
The governor also pledged to prioritise rural development through increased investments in feeder roads, water supply, healthcare centres and schools.
Yusuf said his administration would strengthen support for agriculture and youth empowerment programmes, adding that job creation and youth development would remain central to his agenda.
He reaffirmed his commitment to improving education and healthcare delivery across the state, while stressing that unity, peace and inclusive leadership remained key pillars of his government.
The governor added that he would continue working with stakeholders to advance Kano State’s development and align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to attract more federal projects and opportunities to the state.
Yusuf thanked residents of Kano for their continued support and pledged transparent governance and people-centred development.
Yusuf defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the APC on Jan. 26, 2026, following internal crises within the NNPP.
The defection was accompanied by several state and federal lawmakers, as well as local government chairmen.
Following his return to the APC, party stakeholders in Kano endorsed him as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election and presented him with expression of interest and nomination forms under a consensus arrangement.
