A magistrate court in Lagos on Monday ordered the remand of a medical doctor accused of issuing a forged medical report to aid Adetoun in an ongoing legal matter.
Prosecutors told the court that the doctor allegedly prepared the false medical document to mislead investigators and obstruct justice. The report was said to have been presented as evidence to excuse Adetoun from appearing before authorities.
Police said the offence was uncovered during an investigation into Adetoun’s case, adding that the medical findings submitted by the doctor did not correspond with records from the hospital where the accused claimed to have been treated.
The doctor, whose name was withheld pending formal arraignment, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate ordered that the suspect be remanded in a correctional facility pending the completion of investigations and advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The case was adjourned to a later date.
