The Ezza Ezekuna Clan has unanimously endorsed Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, as its sole governorship candidate for the 2027 election, citing his achievements in restoring peace, promoting inclusive governance, and delivering critical infrastructure across the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation and Chairman of the Publicity Sub-Committee of the Ezza Ezekuna Endorsement Rally, Barr. Chief Ikeuwa Omebeh, the clan described Nwifuru as “a patriotic leader who places the welfare of the people above personal interests and has demonstrated uncommon commitment to the development of Ebonyi State.”
The clan commended the governor for prioritizing peace and security since assuming office on May 29, 2023, noting that his administration had successfully resolved several lingering communal and boundary disputes that had claimed lives and hindered development in affected communities.
“On assumption of office, Chief Francis Nwifuru raised the white flag as a symbol of peace and unity in the state. With a clear sense of commitment and spirit of fatherhood, he resolved all lingering communal crises and boundary disputes that devastated some communities and clans in the state,” the statement said.
According to the group, the administration took deliberate steps to sustain peace by creating autonomous communities in troubled areas, including Alioma and Alioma Ezekuna in Ezza Effium and Effium, as well as Amanze and Izzo Autonomous Communities, while also constructing 150 three-bedroom houses for displaced residents.
The clan further praised the governor for resolving town union and traditional leadership disputes across the state, stressing that his government successfully supervised the election of about 80 traditional rulers and town union executives in various communities.
Highlighting the administration’s commitment to equity and inclusion, the statement noted that several sons and daughters of Ezza Ezekuna, particularly youths and women, had been appointed into government positions. “Governor Nwifuru has demonstrated leadership ingenuity that broadens equity and participatory governance through the inclusion of Ezza Ezekuna people in his administration,” it stated.
The endorsement also referenced key projects executed in Ezza North and Ezza South, including the construction of the Ekka/Inyere Akadoro Unity Bridge, Alubueleke Akadoro Unity Bridge, classroom blocks in pilot schools, road projects, rehabilitation of general hospitals, provision of ambulances, doctors’ quarters, and other healthcare facilities.
Expressing gratitude for scholarship opportunities, civil service recruitment, pension payments, and various federal intervention programmes, the clan declared its unwavering support for the governor’s re-election bid. “The entire Ezza Ezekuna Clan speaks with one voice and echoes with one tone in adopting Governor Francis Nwifuru as our sole governorship candidate for 2027 to consolidate the gains of the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda,” the statement concluded.
