Accord Affirms Olawepo-Hashim as 2027 Presidential Candidate

The Accord Party has affirmed businessman and politician Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election following the successful conduct of the party’s affirmation primaries in several states.

Results released Sunday showed that Olawepo-Hashim secured 423,902 affirmative votes in the exercise, which party officials described as peaceful, transparent and reflective of members’ confidence in his leadership and vision for Nigeria.

In a statement issued by his media office, the party said the affirmation primaries recorded a large turnout of members and supporters across participating states.

Although Olawepo-Hashim was the sole aspirant and faced no opposition, the party said the primaries were conducted to allow members to formally endorse his candidacy through a democratic affirmation process.

Announcing the results, Kebbi State Returning Officer Yahaya Mohammed said the exercise complied with the party’s guidelines and demonstrated the widespread support enjoyed by the candidate.

Mohammed said Olawepo-Hashim received 423,902 affirmative votes, with Jigawa State recording the highest number at 198,200 votes, followed by Kano State with 124,101 votes.

According to the results, Nasarawa State delivered 47,309 votes, Kebbi State recorded 46,852 votes, Kwara State contributed 3,348 votes, while Lagos State returned 4,548 affirmative votes.

“The exercise was peaceful, transparent and credible. The outcome demonstrates the confidence party members have in Dr. Olawepo-Hashim and his vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria,” Mohammed said.

Supporters of the candidate described his emergence as a significant milestone for the party and expressed optimism that Accord would offer Nigerians a credible alternative in the 2027 general election.

Olawepo-Hashim’s emergence adds to the growing list of politicians positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential race as political activities intensify ahead of the election, with parties expected to deepen consultations, coalition discussions and internal preparations.
