Abia State Gov. Alex Otti said Saturday that his administration will not be distracted by talk of the 2027 elections, stressing that his focus remains on fixing the state.
Speaking during a worship service at the Seventh- Day Adventist Church Umuikaa District headquarters in Isialangwa South local government area, Otti said his government would stay committed to doing what is right.
“I am not bothered about 2027, as the God that settled 2023 will equally settle 2027,” he said, accompanied by his wife, Priscilla Chidinma.
Otti said no individual or group was entitled to distract his administration. “When they make noise, we should not be bothered. We should remain focused and do what we have to do,” he said.
He apologized to residents for the dust caused by ongoing rehabilitation at the Umuikaa junction–Owerrinta road, describing the inconvenience as part of development. Otti said the project, now in its final stages, involves reconstructing and dualizing a federal road after his government secured approval from the federal government.
He added that work is also underway on the Onuimo-to-Tower road, saying the goal is to ensure that “any time you get into Abia State, you know you’ve gotten into Abia State.”
